Since 2010, the University of Reading has conducted annual analyses of herd performance for 500 Holstein/Friesian dairy herds. Each of the 60+ key performance indicators (KPIs) is derived with the identical calculations used by InterHerd+. This means the study results are directly usable as up to date target values to guide farmers and their advisers in discussions and decision making. The Johne’s Disease (JD) Tracker, which was developed with support from the National Action Group on Johne’s, was launched in July 2021. Within the JD Tracker application, the results are presented in tabular and graphical formats designed to be easy to read. The results are colour-coded (‘traffic lights’) according to benchmark values based on quartiles and median values derived from a sample of herds that are already used for production parameter benchmarks.
