Use of the InterHerd+ Johne’s Disease Tracker within veterinary practices

A feature by Karen Wright in Cow Management has highlighted how the InterHerd+ Johne’s tracker is being used by veterinary practices to manage Johne’s Disease.

George Farm Vets’ Gethin Roberts says ““Everyone has to stay up to date and live in the moment to tackle Johne’s disease effectively. InterHerd+ rankings and in-depth reporting is bringing the data to life on units, and I think it will pave the way to real progress in controlling Johne’s for those involved.”

The InterHerd+ Johne’s Tracker uses milk ELISA results and milk recording data to provide farmers with the information required to effectively manage Johne’s Disease within their herd. The InterHerd+ Johne’s Tracker emphasises the dynamics of the disease at herd level, focusing on management decisions to minimise the risk of future infection, and enables users to determine if their National Johne’s Management Plan (NJMP) is effective.

InterHerd+ provides a standard output for all herds which use the Johne’s milk ELISA and milk records from National Milk Records (NMR) and Cattle Information Service (CIS).

Key features include;

Group statistics to allow the comparison of milk ELISA results across multiple herds simultaneously

Interactive benchmarking and progress graphs/tables to monitor Johne’s Disease parameters including; average test value, %Pos30 and % priority cull cows

Access to annually updated benchmarks* to track the progress of individual or multiple herds overtime compared to the national benchmark herds

*Exclusive to InterHerd+ databases stored on the cloud using an e-license
