PAN was established in 1987 by staff at the Veterinary Epidemiology & Economics Research Unit (VEERU) at the University of Reading. Both organisations still share offices and staff who benefit from a combination of commercial and research activities.

This close relationship provides valuable links allowing PAN to offer a wide range of training and research activities.
