Dr Andrew James BA, PhD, Livestock economist, information specialist

Dr Andrew James (Chairman) is a livestock economist and econometrician who has specialised in the development of livestock and veterinary information systems for over 30 years. He has worked with livestock and veterinary services in many countries of Europe, Africa, Latin America and Asia. Since 2000 he has been the Project Manager and lead developer of the InterTrace system working on applications primarily in the UK, Malta, Kosovo and Colombia.

Dr James has academic status at The University of Reading where he was Director of the Veterinary Epidemiology & Economics Research Unit (VEERU) for twelve years. He was on the advisory committee for the FAO Emergency Programme for the Prevention of Trans-boundary Diseases (EMPRES), and expert groups that developed the epidemiological surveillance standards for declaring countries free of rinderpest, contagious bovine pleuro-pneumonia and foot-and-mouth disease.
